The World Fastest Jet, SR-71 Blackbird

Gambar
Video Source:  Out Of Your Mind This aircraft was developed in secret in the late 1950s to cruise to 80,000 feet above the earth, near the edge of space, and out fly any missile that was launched at it. The SR-71 was designed for flight at over Mach 3 with a flight crew of two in tandem cockpits, with the pilot in the forward cockpit and the reconnaissance systems officer operating the surveillance systems and equipment from the rear cockpit, and directing navigation on the mission flight path. The SR-71 was designed to minimize its radar cross-section, an early attempt at stealth design. Finished aircraft were painted a dark blue, almost black, to increase the emission of internal heat and to act as camouflage against the night sky. The dark color led to the aircraft's nickname "Blackbird".

An estimated 11 million spectators view the squadron during air shows from March through November each year. Members of the Blue Angels team also visit more than 50,000 people in schools, hospitals, and community functions at air show cities. Since 1946, the Blue Angels have flown for more than 505 million spectators. Squadron pilots must be qualified for combat and landings on aircraft carriers, with a minimum of 1,250 hours of flight experience. The flight leader must have at least 3,000 hours of flight time and have commanded a tactical jet squadron. To be a pilot in one of those six performing jets, members of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps must undergo an extensive applic...

The first B model was delivered to the Air Force in January 1980, and by 1985 all aircraft were converted to B models. All E4B aircraft are assigned to the 595th Command and Control Group at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.  The aircraft was to provide a survivable platform to conduct war operations in the event of a nuclear attack. Early in the E4's service, the media dubbed the aircraft as "the doomsday planes". The E4 was also capable of operating the "Looking Glass" missions of the Strategic Air Command . As Known as ‘the Doomsday plane,’ the aircraft visited the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base. Its program offices are world leaders in developing and fielding command, control, communication, computer, and intelligence  orC4I systems.
